(Yeah the news might be a little late, but hey this is the first free time that I have had :P)
The BIG story:
At 5 Am Kayla started having contractions, but for fear of waking Me and her Mom prematurely, said nothing until I awoke around 6 to a
SQUEEEEEEZE to my arm. I told her to squeeze every time she had a contraction, and timed them at about 3-4 mins apart, with a duration of 30-45 sec. At about 6:30 we convinced her to go to the hospital, and arrived at 7:30. (No we don't live very far, we were all pretty slow, Kayla let me eat breakfast)
The RN wasn't very reassuring, she said that Kayla was barely dilated to a 2 cm, and told us to start our rounds- after 3 hours of walking, Kayla squeeeeezing me at every contraction, she progressed to a 3, with contractions off the charts. I think the only patient one was Kayla's mom, waiting in the family room. Thank heavens the OB decided to break her water and get things going! He broke her water, the contractions got more intense and more regular. The RN then asked the epidural question, to which Kayla quickly answered "YES!" (I think the nurse was waiting a "we'll think about it" or "we haven't decided") Kayla got the epidural at 2:05, and in one relaxing hour (for the 3 of us) she went from a 4 to a 10. Thanks goodness for modern medicine!
After 25 mins of pushing, and almost 10 waiting for the doctor to show (though it felt like an eternity to Kayla), Piper made her grand entrance- at 4:11, weighing 6.5 lbs, 20 ''. At the moment of exit, or entry depending on how you look at it, I lost it, no i didn't cry- I lost consciousness :) all those Health Science classes about pregnancy and birth didn't pay off afte

r all.

New happy mom 2 days after giving birth... daddy didn't even look that good!
Borne with mommies eyes she is sure is cute!
